祁媛,女,1986年3月出生于江西鹰潭。2014年毕业于中国美术学院,获文学硕士学位,同年开始小说创作。小说散见于《收获》《人民文学》《当代》《十月》等刊物,部分作品被《小说月报》《小说选刊》等刊物转载。先后获第三届紫金•人民文学之星短篇小说奖、第五届西湖•中国新锐文学奖、第十五届华语文学传媒大奖年度最具潜力新人奖提名奖、2016年浙江省青年文学之星、第二届茅盾文学新人奖。中篇小说《我准备不发疯》入选中国小说学会2015年度中国小说排行榜,获2015年青年文学之星优秀作品奖、第四届郁达夫中篇小说提名奖。短篇小说《脉》获2016年十月短篇小说奖。出版小说集两部。
祁媛是学画出身,从来没想到写作,可能是一个偶然的事情改变了这一切。想来也奇怪,某些对人生产生重要影响,有着决定性的事情,往往是瞬间发生的,正因如此祁媛喜欢在写作中的变化,还谈不上是风格的变化,而是接二连三出现的未知感,未知感是祁媛创作的动力,这就好比是“精神性”的游牧。
《奔丧》是一个冷叙事小说,她的文字冷、硬,不只在说生的无意义,死的无意义,同时还在幸灾乐祸地嘲笑生和死,把一种人生的真实痛感,处理得荒谬、虚浮,近似呓语,像一块不饰雕琢的璞玉,却十足完整。《我准备不发疯》中,虽然底色并不明亮,相反,可能更冷寂灰暗,但因为文笔兴致好,有声有色,忽明忽暗,乍雨还晴,以致我们会忘掉了那个底色,祁媛比较有效地尝试了某种意识流的技巧,就是那种“笔不到,意到”,“笔断意连”的行文能力。许多段落各有主旨,每个主旨彼此对立而并置,因而各自的意旨都被冲淡甚至取消了,由此呈现了某种浑沌感,一种意象上的清晰的模糊性,开始动人了。《跟踪》是一个男性视角,写一个青年男性的失意人生,写他的无所事事一事无成以及对生活无聊感的体认。小说写得随心所欲,一个跟踪者、失业者、幻想狂,对自由的快乐体悟几近极端。小说写了这个青年跟踪了一个美妙的女人,但全程只看到她的背影,为她建立了一个不真实的诗意的存在,最后这个“玫瑰红”的背影在地铁站纵身一跃,那个美人化为闪电永远地消失了。仅仅是一个“背影”的意象本来就是虚幻和脆弱的,也正因为有这个虚幻和脆弱的基础,它瞬间的轰毁才有了可能,这合乎美学的逻辑。
2018年,祁媛有不少新小说的写作计划,对于祁媛来说写作就是走夜路,照亮一段走一段,再照亮一段,再走一段。就像草原上的那些牧民,谁会知道他们明天要去哪里安家呢,他们唯一知道的可能就是:天地是大的。

Qi Yuan
Qi Yuan was born in Yingtan, Jiangxi in March of 1986. She graduated from the China Academy of Art in 2014 with a Master's degree in literature, and began writing novels that same year. Her novels can be seen in publications like Harvest, People's Literature, Dangdai, and Shiyue, with some being re-published in Fiction Monthly and Selection of Short Stories. She won the 3rd Zijin People's Literary Star Award, the 5th West Lake Cutting-Edge Chinese Literary Award, 15th Chinese Literature Media Awards' Newcomer with the Best Potential nomination, the 2016 Zhejiang Youth Literary Star Award, and 2nd Mao Dun Literature Prize for new authors. Her novella Going to Not Go Crazy was listed in the 2015 Chinese novel ranking of the China Fiction Association, and earned the 2015 Youth Literary Star Award for Excellence and nomination for the 4th Yu Dafu Novella Award. Her short story Pulse won the 2016 Shiyue Short Story Award. She has published two short story collections.
Qi Yuan got her start painting, and never once thought of writing, but it may have a been by chance that all of this changed. It's strange how certain things which majorly affect one's life in decisive ways often occur in an instant. It is because of this that Qi Yuan enjoys the changes she feels when she writes. They aren't stylistic changes, but continual feelings of the unknown. The unknown is Qi Yuan's motivation for writing, making her a spiritual nomad.
Hurry Home is a novel with a cold narration style, in which she sharply writes about the meaningless of life and death, openly mocking them. She handles true pain in a preposterous, superficial style, almost like a dream, or an unpolished piece of jade, blurry yet whole. In Going to Not Go Crazy, her basis can be dark and gloomy, but her writing is filled with soul, and shifts between light and dark, the rain and the sun, so that we forget its dark origins. Qi Yuan effectively attempts a stream of consciousness style that makes the reader think of something, even if she doesn't write it. Many of her paragraphs have their own ideas which contrast with each other until each idea fades or is even canceled out. This sense of murkiness is where the reader can find their emotion. Follow is written from a male perspective, and tells of a man's passionless life, how nothing he tries comes to pass, and his boredom with life. The novel travels wherever it pleases, between a follower, an unemployed man, a daydreamer--it is an extreme experience of the happiness of freedom. The story tells of how this young man follows a beautiful woman, but during the entire time, he can only see her back, so he builds an unrealistic impression of her. In the end, this rose-red back leaps from the platform, disappearing forever. This metaphor of a back is transient and fragile, and it is because of this transient, fragile foundation that its instant destruction is possible, in this beautiful logic.
In 2018, Qi Yuan has plans to write several new novels. For her, writing is like walking in the dark: she makes her way forward one step at a time, slowly finding a path forward. Like nomads on the plains, nobody knows where they will end up tomorrow, they only know that the earth is a vast place.
